The Phu Kham Copper-Gold deposit is located in a remote, mountainous site approximately 100 km north east of the Laos capital Vientiane and contains a mineral resource of 1.2 million tonnes of copper and 1.5 million ounces of gold. The Phu Kham Copper-Gold Project was the second phase of development of the Phu Kham deposit.
Ausenco was engaged as the EPCM contractor for the design, construction and commissioning of the 12 Mt/y copper concentrator. Ausenco undertook the engineering, procurement and construction management utilising the Ausenco Manila office for the detailed engineering phase. Ausenco also developed the process facilities for the project while the client was responsible for the general infrastructure and bulk earthworks.
More recently, Ausenco was engaged by Pan Aust to support the Phu Kham team to optimise and increase the productivity of the Phu Kham operation.
